Long weekend energy is still in the air after a wild Labour Day Classic and a Willow Island send-off to summer. Today brings the Show 'N' Shine, a Science Centre blowout, and a full slate of library programming to close out the weekend right.

There's a lot of green and white to celebrate this morning. Let's get into it.

In today's edition:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders needed extra time to beat their oldest rivals, but the home team found the plays that mattered. Saskatchewan came away from a sold-out Mosaic Stadium with a 32-26 overtime win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, with short-yardage quarterback Tommy Stevens scoring his third touchdown of the game in the overtime session.

Winnipeg's two-point conversion attempt in overtime came up short, and the Bombers couldn't capitalize after a costly time-count penalty. Linebacker Jameer Thurman came up with the tackles on the next two plays to seal it for the Riders in front of 34,352 fans. The two teams meet again Saturday in Winnipeg for the Banjo Bowl rematch.

Trevor Harris etched his name into CFL history during Sunday's Labour Day Classic. Early in the second quarter, a 72-yard catch-and-run from Harris to Daniel Wiebe pushed the 40-year-old quarterback past Doug Flutie's career total of 41,355 passing yards, moving him into 10th place on the league's all-time list. The Riders capped the drive with a touchdown pass from Harris to Quali Conley to extend their lead.

It's the latest milestone in a remarkable 14-year career for Harris, who is now in rare company among the CFL's most prolific passers.

Ahead of Sunday's Labour Day Classic, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers stirred up some cross-prairie rivalry by posting, again, that Regina-style pizza doesn't live up to the hype. It's the same jab the Bombers' social media team made three years ago, and this time they doubled down with another post last week.

Roughriders head coach Corey Mace and quarterback Trevor Harris took the ribbing in stride, weighing in on the rivalry during an appearance on CBC's The 306 ahead of the big game. Regina-style pizza might raise eyebrows from out-of-towners, but around here it's a point of local pride, bragging rights and all.

The 9th annual Swamp Fest wrapped up this weekend on Willow Island at Wascana Lake, and festival-goers spent the week beforehand preparing costumes to bring colour and creativity to the community-organized event. What started as an independent music and arts festival in 2016 has become a beloved multi-generational tradition, with founder T.J. Phelps Bondaroff noting that a whole ecosystem of young people has grown up creating their own magic at the festival over the years.

The all-ages event is entirely volunteer-run and features live bands, face painting, carnival activities, and plenty of room for kids and adults alike to be a little silly. Kids under 12 get in free with an adult.
