Riders Survive a Shaky Start, Beat Ottawa 27-22 on the Road
The Saskatchewan Roughriders trailed the Ottawa Redblacks 10-0 after a rocky first quarter on Friday night, then answered with a big second quarter comeback and a third quarter surge to seal a 27-22 win. Head coach Corey Mace credited the turnaround to the locker room getting back to celebrating each other's successes after a tougher outing the week before against Toronto.
Receivers KeeSean Johnson, Samuel Emilus, and Dhel Duncan-Busby all came up with key catches late, while newcomer Mathew Sexton's punt return touchdown in the third quarter put Saskatchewan ahead for good. Running back Quali Conley also had a strong day on the ground.
The Riders are home twice this month, starting with Bo-Levi Mitchell and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday, July 12 at 5 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium. Get there early, there is plenty of tailgating to be had.

200,000 Ladybugs Are Landing in Victoria Park This Thursday

The City of Regina's annual Ladybug Release returns to Victoria Park on Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m. More than 200,000 ladybugs will be handed out to residents and kids, who can then release them in their own yards and gardens to help keep aphid populations in check naturally.
The event includes family friendly treats and giveaways while supplies last. It is a small, cheerful bit of pest control that has become a genuine summer tradition for a lot of Regina families.
🎭 ARTS & CULTURE
Regina Fringe Festival Returns to the Artesian and the Unitarian Church
The Regina Fringe Festival is back this month, running out of two venues within easy walking distance of each other: the Artesian on 13th Avenue and Angus Street, and the Unitarian Church at College Avenue and Angus Street. It is an easy one to plan around, with both stages close enough to bounce between shows over an evening.
As always, the festival brings independent theatre, comedy, and performance art from touring and local artists to Regina for a short, high energy run. Check the festival website for the full show schedule and ticket details.

I Love Regina Day Returns August 22, Apply Now to Take Part
Mark the calendar: I Love Regina Day is set for Saturday, August 22 at Victoria Park, with a free BBQ, live entertainment, community exhibitor booths, and children's activities planned for the city's biggest community pride event of the summer.
The City is still accepting exhibitor and performer applications for this year's event. If your organization, group, or act wants a spot on the schedule or a booth in the park, now is the time to apply, spots are limited and fill up fast.
🚧 CITY UPDATE
Road Work Round-Up: What Drivers Should Know This Week
Paving work is underway on Lewvan Drive between Parliament Avenue and Highway 1, and continues through July 16. Southbound lanes are being repaved first, from July 5 to 10, followed by the northbound lanes from July 11 to 16. Two way traffic will be maintained throughout, though drivers should expect delays, reduced speeds, and lane restrictions in the work zone.
Over on 11th Avenue, the 11th Avenue Revitalization Project has closed the stretch between McIntyre Street and Albert Street since mid-May, with water and roadway work expected to continue until October 30. Drivers heading downtown should plan an alternate route for the rest of the summer.
Reynolds Street, between 19th Avenue and Broadway Avenue, is also seeing block-by-block closures until August 28 while crews install new storm water mains, replace the water main, and rebuild curbs, sidewalks, and the roadway. As always, the City recommends building in extra travel time and watching for crews across all three zones, since timelines are weather dependent and could shift.
