🏈 RIDERS

Former Rider Charleston Hughes Is Heading to the CFL Hall of Fame
Charleston Hughes, who twice led the CFL in sacks during his time in green, is part of this year's Canadian Football Hall of Fame class. The defensive end played for the Riders in 2018, 2019 and 2022, racking up 35 of his 136 career sacks in Saskatchewan and earning the province's most outstanding defensive player award in 2019.
Riders head coach Corey Mace delivered the news himself, and Hughes' reaction said it all: "It's about time!" He'll be inducted at a ceremony in Hamilton on September 17, becoming the 39th former Rider in the hall, alongside fellow inductees Brandon Banks and Sean Millington.
🥅 PATS
Pats' Max Paddock Tapped for Team Canada Coaching Staff
Max Paddock, goaltending coach and manager of hockey operations for the Regina Pats, has been named goaltending coach for Team Canada White at the 2026 U17 World Challenge this fall in Oakville, Ontario. It's a nice piece of recognition for a Pats staffer who's building quite the résumé.
Paddock, 26, spent four seasons as a Pats goaltender himself between 2016 and 2020, helping the team to the 2018 Memorial Cup final and earning a spot on the CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team. He's now entering his third season on the Pats' coaching staff and his second as manager of hockey operations.
🏓 COMMUNITY

Queen City Pickleball Hub Has Found Its New Permanent Home
After losing its longtime space at the REAL District, Queen City Pickleball Hub has finalized the purchase of a building at 1333 Park Street, with the deal expected to close within a couple of weeks. Owner Philip Greenwood hopes to have courts set up by the fall, giving players a place to return to for the winter months.
The new building will have roughly half the space of the old facility, but owning the property means the club controls its own future without needing to shut down for other events. It's a solid landing spot after a stretch of uncertainty for a community that plays every single day, rain or shine.
📈 RIDERS

Riders Climb to No. 2 in the Latest CFL Power Rankings
Fresh off Friday's comeback win over Ottawa, the Riders have climbed a spot to No. 2 in SportsCage.com's latest CFL Power Rankings, trailing only the Montreal Alouettes. Saskatchewan improved to 3-1 on the season with the gritty road win at TD Place Stadium.
Mathew Sexton's punt return touchdown proved to be the turning point, while quarterback Trevor Harris threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns, moving past Tom Clements for 12th on the CFL's all-time passing list. The Riders are back home at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, July 12 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, kickoff at 6:30 PM.
