Rain moves through today with a high of 15°C, but hang in there: Thursday jumps to a sunny 20°C and Friday settles into a mix of sun and cloud around 16°C. A solid back half of the week to get outside.

There is a lot to get through this morning: Saskatchewan just landed the largest private investment in its history, Foo Fighters brought the biggest concert Regina has seen in years, and Regina Public Schools wants your help naming a brand new school. Let's get into it.

Bell Canada announced Monday that it is quadrupling the size of its planned AI data centre in the Rural Municipality of Sherwood, just outside Regina, turning a 300-megawatt facility into a phased 1.2-gigawatt hub. The announcement came from Prime Minister Mark Carney, Premier Scott Moe and Bell CEO Mirko Bibic at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, with the project now representing more than $50 billion in capital investment.

The expansion will house the new Bell AI Fabric headquarters in the Regina area, with the province estimating 500 permanent jobs in data centre operations and power generation, plus roughly 3,000 additional jobs in security, logistics and maintenance during the buildout. About 100 management positions are expected at the Bell AI Fabric head office itself.

Foo Fighters played Mosaic Stadium Tuesday night as part of their Take Cover Tour, marking the first major stadium concert in Regina since Garth Brooks played the same venue in 2019. Doors opened at 4 p.m. with Mannequin Pussy and Queens of the Stone Age opening before the headliners took the stage, in what was only one of four Canadian stops on the tour.

Local business and tourism leaders were watching closely beforehand: Regina District Chamber of Commerce CEO Mike Tate called it a "significant win" for the city, and Regina Hotel Association president Sadra Jackle pointed to Brooks' 2019 shows, which generated roughly $18 million in economic activity in the Regina area, as a sign of what a sold-out stadium night can mean for local hotels and restaurants.

McDonald's franchisees across Regina have launched a fundraising push for the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, with proceeds going toward local prostate and breast cancer research. From Monday, September 14 through Sunday, September 20, buying an order of six-piece or ten-piece Chicken Nuggets at any Regina McDonald's, on their own or as part of a meal, directs part of the proceeds to the foundation.

A second window runs October 1 to 9 with Big Mac purchases doing the same. An easy way to make your lunch order count for something extra this week.

Roughriders defensive lineman Caleb Sanders posted a career-high fifth sack of the season during Saturday's Labour Day Classic rematch in Winnipeg, blowing past Blue Bombers' blockers to sack quarterback Zach Collaros and force a punt in the first quarter. The fourth-year veteran, who missed early-season time with an ankle injury, says a winter spent working on speed is paying off.

The Riders are now in their third bye week of the season before returning to action.

Regina Public Schools is inviting residents from across the city to help name a new school currently under construction in the Harbour Landing neighbourhood. The division says it wants the community to have a voice in choosing a name that will become part of the school's identity for generations of students, families and staff.

Submitted names cannot include offensive language, be named after a living or deceased individual, or include the name "Harbour Landing." Submissions are open until 4:00 p.m. on October 2 through an online form. A nice chance to leave a small, lasting mark on the neighbourhood.
