🎗️ TeleMiracle 50: Half a Century of Saskatchewan Generosity
This Saturday, one of the most Saskatchewan things imaginable turns 50. TeleMiracle, the Kinsmen Foundation telethon that has quietly changed thousands of lives across this province, kicks off its golden anniversary broadcast Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 PM and runs for a full 22 hours straight through to Sunday, March 1 at 5:00 PM. Catch it on CTV Saskatchewan or stream free at telemiracle.com.
Since 1977, TeleMiracle has raised more than $171 million for Saskatchewan families, funding wheelchairs, communication devices, vehicle modifications, and medical travel for people who'd otherwise go without. TeleMiracle Week kicked off Monday at the Hotel Saskatchewan with a breakfast and a flag-raising at the Legislature.
Why it matters: This isn't just a telethon. It's $171 million worth of proof that Saskatchewan looks after its own. Tune in, call in, and feel good about it.

🏙️ Regina Is Planning for 370,000 People — and That's a Good Thing
Regina City Council voted today on updates to the Official Community Plan laying out a bold vision for the next 25 years. The city currently sits at about 263,500 residents, and the new growth strategy projects nearly 370,000 by 2051, making Regina one of the fastest-growing cities on the Prairies. Getting there will require roughly 52,300 new housing units, a mix of infill development and new neighbourhoods on the edges of the city.
Why it matters: A growing Regina means more amenities, a stronger local economy, and a more vibrant city for everyone already here. The real question is how thoughtfully it's built and today's vote is a step in the right direction.
🥌 Canada Won Gold. Now Regina Wants to Curl.
Brad Jacobs did it again. Canada's gold medal win in men's curling at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics sparked something back home, and Regina's curling clubs are already feeling it. Caledonian Curling Club board president Patty Kenaschuk says inquiries have jumped noticeably since the Games, while Highland Curling Club general manager Brad Hebert says the phones have been ringing with people wanting to get started.
If you’re new to curling and want to get started, this is the perfect time. Curling takes many forms, Regina offers wheelchair curling, stick curling, curling for all age groups, double curling, and four-person curling. Both clubs in Regina welcome total beginners, and there are still weeks left in the season.
Why it matters: There's no easier time to try this sport than right now, when the whole country is buzzing about it. Give your local club a call — you'll be glad you did.
🦅 Saskatchewan's Wild Backyard Just Got a New Guide
The Wild View is a brand-new Saskatchewan nature travel company founded by naturalist, writer, and photographer Jenn Smith Nelson. Think guided birding tours at Last Mountain Lake, immersive prairie retreats, family wildlife experiences at Buffalo Pound, and urban birding walks right here in Regina. It's thoughtful, locally rooted, and genuinely exciting.
One standout feature: Community Days - This is a donation-based, fully accessible experience designed to make nature connection available to everyone, including those who face barriers to the outdoors.
Why it matters: Saskatchewan has some of the most spectacular wildlife habitat in North America. Now there's a locally founded guide to help you actually experience it. Check the full tour lineup at thewildview.ca.
🧸 Zippity Zoom Toys Is Having Its Well-Deserved Moment
When Toys "R" Us started closing locations across Saskatchewan, something quietly wonderful happened: many of us discovered Zippity Zoom Toys. The family-owned store has been a neighbourhood staple since 2009, and a surge of first-time customers is now finding what the regulars have always known. Staff actually know their products. The selection is thoughtfully curated. Walking in feels nothing like a warehouse.
For nearly 17 years, Zippity Zoom did the work without the national marketing budget. Now it's getting the recognition it deserves.
Why it matters: This is exactly what shopping local looks like. If you haven't been in, now is a great time to go!
