Your friendly, positive roundup of what's happening in Regina

Happy Monday, Regina! 👋

March is officially here, and after the deep freeze that bookended February, the city is waking up with some cautious optimism. 🏒 Sports | Pats Home Twice This Week as Playoff Push Enters Final Stretch

The Regina Pats have a big week of home hockey ahead, and after dropping a close 4–1 loss to Brandon on Friday, they'll be looking to bounce back on their own ice. Tuesday night brings the Medicine Hat Tigers to the Brandt Centre at 7:00 PM, followed by the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday at 7:00 PM in what are two critical East Division contests with the playoff race entering its final weeks.

The season wraps March 21, which means every game counts. If you've been meaning to get out to a Pats game, this is the stretch to do it. The Brandt Centre atmosphere during late-season hockey is genuinely special, and tickets are still very accessible.

🥌 Sports | Regina's Kelly Knapp Flying the Green and White at the 2026 Brier

Regina skip Kelly Knapp and his Highland Curling Club rink are competing right now at the 2026 Montana's Brier in St. John's, Newfoundland, carrying Saskatchewan's hopes in one of the deepest fields in recent memory. Knapp (third Brennen Jones, second Dustin Kidby, lead Mat Ring) won the SaskTel Tankard with a 9–4 final and earned the right to represent the province.

The Brier field includes defending champion and Olympic gold medalist Brad Jacobs, as well as St. John's native Brad Gushue in his farewell Brier. It's a stacked event. Saskatchewan hasn't won the Brier since 1980, and Knapp's squad is being watched closely as potential spoilers.

Playoffs begin Saturday March 7, with the final Sunday night on TSN.

🎪 Community | REAL District Has 40+ Events Planned for March

If you're looking for something to do this month, the REAL District has you covered in a big way. The district's full March calendar just dropped and it's packed: hockey, ringette provincials, Canada's Farm Show, the Spring Home Show, live music, community sports and more. Nearly every day of the month has something happening across the campus.

Some highlights to mark down: Canada's Farm Show runs March 17–19 at the Bunge International Trade Centre, bringing together producers, ag-tech innovators, and industry leaders for one of North America's premier dryland farming events. The Spring Home Show returns March 28–29, and that same weekend features Rock Orchestra by Candlelight at the Brandt Centre.

Beyond the big events, the Regina Farmers' Market continues its weekly indoor runs at Banner Hall every Saturday morning throughout the month. The Co-operators Centre's six sheets of ice are also running near-constantly with ringette, youth hockey and community leagues.

❤️ Community | TeleMiracle 50 Wraps a Historic 50th Anniversary Weekend

What a weekend for Saskatchewan. TeleMiracle 50 wrapped Sunday afternoon after a 22-hour broadcast from Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, celebrating five decades of the province coming together to help its own. The Kinsmen Foundation has now raised more than $171 million over 50 years for medical equipment, travel and treatment support for Saskatchewan residents who need it most.

This year's golden anniversary event was extended by two extra hours compared to previous years, pushing into prime time for the first time ever. Performers, volunteers, and donors from across the province showed up in full force. The telethon alternates between Regina and Saskatoon; next year it returns here.

If you missed it or want to still donate, you can visit telemiracle.com to support Saskatchewan families navigating medical challenges.

📍 City | Downtown Parking Goes Digital: Everything You Need to Know About PayByPhone

Starting March 1, coin-operated downtown parking meters are gone. All paid on-street parking in Regina's downtown has transitioned to PayByPhone as the only payment option. You can pay using the PayByPhone app, online at PayByPhone.com, or by calling 1-888-680-7275. Accepted payments include credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

A few things worth knowing: paid parking is in effect Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM only, with a 2-hour limit per location. There's a 25-cent transaction fee per use. If you don't have a smartphone or prefer not to use an app, you can pay by phone or online through a browser.

Mayor Chad Bachynski has acknowledged concerns from residents about accessibility, and administration is expected to bring forward additional recommendations at the Executive Committee meeting Wednesday.
