🏒 Pats Are Riding a Hot Streak Into March — Playoffs Are in Sight
The Regina Pats have put themselves in a spot that felt unlikely a few months ago: they’re near clinching a WHL playoff spot and rolling into March with momentum. Regina’s record sits at 23–28–6–1, but the trend line is the headline — the Pats are 7–3 in their last 10 games.
A big part of the storyline has been the impact of their top 2025 WHL Prospects Draft picks. First-overall pick Maddox Schultz has 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists) in 23 games, and third-overall pick Liam Pue has 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 26 games.
This week at home started with Medicine Hat visiting the Brandt Centre on Tuesday, March 3 (7:00 PM) and Regina’s next home game is Friday, March 6 vs. Lethbridge at 7:00 PM as the stretch run keeps tightening.
📅 Next home game: Friday, March 6 vs. Lethbridge (7:00 PM) · Brandt Centre, 1700 Elphinstone St.
🎭 Disney's Frozen at Globe Theatre Is Extended — But Time Is Running Out
If you still haven't seen Disney's Frozen: The Broadway Musical at Globe Theatre, this is your genuine last call. The production has been extended to March 22, 2026 due to extraordinary demand. 5,760 people attended 12 sold-out performances during FROST Regina alone and the City of Regina is calling it on track to be the most successful show in Globe Theatre history.
The Globe's 16-actor ensemble has been earning raves all season. Local actor David Michael Juma plays Olaf and is every bit as good as the reviews suggest. This is professional theatre at the highest level Regina has ever seen on its own stage. Grab tickets now. Performances run Wednesday through Sunday, with evening and weekend matinee options available.

🚌 Tapping Your Card on the Bus Is Now a Thing in Regina
As of March 2, Regina Transit riders can pay their bus fare by tapping a debit card, credit card, or mobile wallet directly on the Umo validator when they board. That means Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, whatever's already in your hand now works on the bus.
The new open payment system also comes with fare capping: once you've paid for three adult trips in a day, any additional rides that day are free. Over the course of a month, the system automatically limits charges to the cost of a monthly adult pass — no matter how many rides you take. Cash, Umo cards, and the Umo app remain available for anyone who prefers them.
Regina joins a growing list of Canadian cities offering open payment on transit. Toronto and Vancouver have had it for years. It's a genuinely useful upgrade that makes riding the bus more accessible for occasional riders, visitors, and anyone who's ever forgotten to top up their card.
Pro tip: Take your card out of your wallet before tapping to make sure the correct card is charged.
🏆 Regina 25 Nominations Are Open : Who's Shaping This City?
Economic Development Regina has opened nominations for the second annual Regina 25, a grassroots initiative celebrating the people who make this city better. The program recognizes leaders across five categories: Growers, Game-Changers, Grassroots, Quick Studies, and Mentors and the bar isn't fame or corporate prestige. It's contribution.
The inaugural edition drew more than 150 nominations and shone a spotlight on entrepreneurs, volunteers, newcomers, educators, and changemakers from every corner of the city. Winners from the first year described the recognition as deeply meaningful, not just personally, but as a catalyst for broader attention on Regina's talent. Winners will be announced in May 2026.
Think about who in your life embodies Regina's "get it done" spirit. Nominations are open now at TheRegina25.com.
🌾 REAL District Is Firing on All Cylinders This Month
March is shaping up to be one of the busiest months in REAL District history. The venues, which span over 100 acres and includes the Brandt Centre, Co-operators Centre, AffinityPlex, Mosaic Stadium, and the Bunge International Trade Centre, have more than 40 events on the calendar this month.
The biggest draw arrives March 17 to 19: Canada's Farm Show, presented by Bunge, one of North America's premier agricultural exhibitions. With over 300 exhibitors (exhibitor space is already sold out), thousands of producers, and international delegates from more than 50 countries, the show is a major economic event for the city and a genuine celebration of Saskatchewan's agricultural backbone. This year's programming also highlights the UN's International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Beyond the farm show: Ringette Saskatchewan Provincials, the Spring Home Show (March 28-29), Eid ul-Fitr celebrations at AffinityPlex, and the Regina Farmers' Market running every Saturday at Banner Hall.
🅿️ Downtown Parking Goes Cashless — Here's What Changed
As of March 1, coin payment is no longer accepted at Regina's downtown parking meters. Not everyone will love the shift. Coins were simple, and change was reliable but the move puts Regina in step with how most people already pay for things day to day. Debit, credit, and mobile payment are now the standard options at meters citywide. Additional bylaw changes, including potential adjustments to meter rates and fine amounts, are still working through the committee process.
