Playoff Hockey Is Back - Pats Open vs. Medicine Hat TONIGHT
Regina Pats fans, this is the moment you've been waiting for. After missing the postseason for two straight years, the Pats are back in the WHL Playoffs and their first-round series against the defending champion Medicine Hat Tigers begins tonight in Medicine Hat.
It's a tough draw on paper. The Tigers are heavy favourites, finishing with a dominant record and swept the regular-season series against Regina, going 4-0 while outscoring the Pats 26-7. But the Pats are embracing every bit of the underdog role, and playoff hockey has a funny way of leveling things out.
Regina is led by veteran forward Caden Brown, who posted a career-best 61 points in 64 games this season. The franchise last appeared in the playoffs in 2023, when a Connor Bedard-led squad pushed the Saskatoon Blades to seven games.
The Schedule (Round 1):
Game 1: Tonight, Fri. March 27 @ Medicine Hat - 7:00 PM MT
Game 2: Sat. March 28 @ Medicine Hat - 7:00 PM MT
Games 3 & 4: Tue. March 31 & Wed. April 1 at the Brandt Centre, 7:00 PM ST

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and Co-op have announced the return of the Co-op Community Zone, a designated area of nearly 2,000 seats at Mosaic Stadium where Co-op members can purchase tickets for just $20 per game for most 2026 home games. Labour Day Classic tickets are $30. Single-game tickets for the general public don't go on sale until May 1. Pick up your tickets at any participating Co-op location across Saskatchewan.

City Council Passes Stronger Dog Leash Rules - What You Need to Know
Regina city council approved amendments to its animal bylaw Wednesday, introducing stricter leash requirements, owner accountability measures, and updated shelter rules. Dogs in public must now be on a leash at all times, except in designated off-leash parks. Pet owners must also provide identification to bylaw officers when requested, fines have been increased, and a standard 72-hour hold period now applies to animals detained by the Regina Humane Society. Off-leash parks like Cathy Lauritsen remain fully available. Check the bylaw update if you want the full detail.
🏫 EDUCATION
Three Regina School Projects Hit a Pause - What Parents Need to Know
Three construction projects connected to Regina Public Schools have been put on hold following last week's provincial budget. The affected projects are renovations to Campbell Collegiate, a new joint-use elementary school in the Towns neighbourhood, and a new joint-use secondary school also planned for the Towns area.
The Campbell Collegiate renovation had been set to begin demolition this coming June, addressing structural issues identified in a 2022 review. RPS director and CEO Mark Haarmann was clear that there are no current safety concerns for students attending the school today.
The bigger concern for many families is the Towns elementary school, which had been on track to open in fall 2028 to help address serious overcrowding in that rapidly growing part of the city. Several existing neighbourhood schools are already operating over capacity. Haarmann said the board has portable classrooms and boundary adjustments in place to manage for now, and believes it can get to around 2029 without the new building if needed. He plans to connect with the Ministry of Education in the coming weeks to get a clearer sense of revised timelines for both schools.
